Spirit of Adventure
Venture a little further afield and discover mountain villages little touched by time. We have suggested ten days out to whet your appetite but we can recommend many more.
Villa Kerasi is the perfect antidote to modern life where you can chill by the pool or read a book in the shade of the library or snooze under a pergola whilst planning tomorrow’s adventure. It is the perfect place to do as much or as little as you feel, be as sociable or as private as you wish. In the early evenings, as the sun sets over the mountain you will hear the distant sound of bells get louder and louder until the shepherd comes into sight, driving his flock of sheep, lambs and goats past the villa, raising his crook in salute. You may wish to relax with one of the massage or beauty treatments we offer at Villa Kerasi’s Spa
After a busy day topping up the tan or exploring one of the islands thirteen magnificent gorges, why not enjoy a romantic home cooked dinner with complimentary wine under the stars whilst contemplating how the Cretans get the famous olive oil so green!!!
Throughout the year, Cretans will find any excuse to break bread and enjoy the company of friends and family in local festivals. By far the most important religious festival is Easter when families will travel the world to return to their village, roast a whole sheep and greet each other with the cry ‘Christos Anesti’, Christ is risen. As well as other Saints day’s celebrations and Religious festivals, the region enjoys cultural fiestas with art, jazz and wine and food festivals all year round. We have a full calendar of events from regional and national events to a jazz club in a local village kafenion.
